If you are looking for a routine position tuning existing models on clean data, this opportunity is not for you. We require a builder, a rigorous thinker, and a pragmatic problem-solver. 

The Core Challenge:

We operate in a complex environment with data scattered across disparate systems, often incomplete, and sometimes contradictory. The raw potential is immense, but latent. Your primary responsibility will be to architect and implement the processes to forge clean, coherent, foundational analytical datasets from this raw material. This goes far beyond basic ETL; it involves deep data understanding, intelligent imputation/inference where appropriate, designing robust data representations suitable for downstream analysis, and ultimately enabling the delivery of pointed, actionable, persona-specific recommendations to business stakeholders. You are building the bedrock upon which insight rests.

Who We Need:

We're seeking an individual whose capabilities span theoretical depth and pragmatic execution.

  • Mathematical Foundation: Your understanding isn't just academic. A demonstrable, applied grasp of mathematics through Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and Multi-Variable Calculus is essential. Familiarity and practical intuition regarding Stochastic Calculus concepts would be a significant advantage for modeling the dynamics inherent in our data.
  • Theory-to-Practice Translation: You actively follow advancements in ML and computational techniques but possess the critical judgment to discern hype from utility. More importantly, you can adapt and apply near-edge concepts effectively within substantial real-world constraints—limited data depth, imperfect signals, and finite computational resources. Show us applied ingenuity.
  • Resilience & Creative Problem Solving: This role requires navigating ambiguity and technical hurdles daily. You must possess a genuine appetite for creative problem-solving when faced with sparse or messy data. Crucially, you need the fortitude to flourish under persistent pressure, both from operational business unit demands and the organizational need to demonstrate tangible returns on development efforts.
  • Data Ecosystem Integration: Proficiency in querying modern data warehouse and data lake environments (SQL and potentially NoSQL/graph) is expected. You must be capable of understanding and working constructively within our established Data Engineering pipelines and metadata management frameworks, contributing expertise to enhance data capture and transformation logic collaboratively.
  • Bridging the Human Gap: Data cleansing and validation often require domain expertise. You must be prepared and capable of developing straightforward web-based tools or interfaces (e.g., using Flask, FastAPI, Streamlit, or similar frameworks) to facilitate human-in-the-loop workflows. This involves creating simple UIs for internal or external participants to confirm data accuracy, curate specific entries, or provide necessary context. This is a critical, hands-on requirement.

Technical Environment & Desired Experience:

  • Essential: Proven hands-on experience within at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and leveraging virtual compute resources effectively. Near expertise in SQL and data model management regardless of database flavor or storage facility.
  • Highly Desirable: Practical experience with containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes preferred, Docker essential).
  • Boon: Demonstrable experience building interactive dashboards or data exploration tools, particularly with Plotly Dash.
